Rules Tip of the Day: Colorless is not a color; you cannot choose 'colorless' if an effect has you choose a color. Also, just because a card or permanent is colorless does not make it an artifact, and just because an object is an artifact does not make it colorless.
Q: Does revealing a land with Counterbalance counter anything?
A: It can. Lands have a converted mana cost of zero. You can counter a spell, like Ornithopter, that has a converted mana cost of zero by revealing a land when Counterbalance's triggered ability resovles.
Q: If I have a Haakon, Stromgald Scourge in the graveyard and I play him, can he be Remanded to my hand?
A: Yes, that is how it works. It does not matter that you played Hakkon from your graveyard; when Remand resolves, the card will be put in your hand.
Q: If I Forecast Writ of Passage on Chilling Shade during my upkeep and then use the Shade's ability to pump it during combat (say to a 5/5), will it still be unblockable? I know this doesn't work if I enchant the Shade via the Writ, but the wording on the Forecast text is different.
A: Yes. Writ of Passage's Forecast ability only cares that the targeted creature has a power of two or less when you play the ability and when it resolves. It does not matter if the power of this creature is later raised to above two; it will still be unblockable. And your last statement is not quite correct. You can enchant the Shade and still have it be unblockable. You just have to "pump" the Shade after the Writ's triggered ability resolves.
Q: I've heard that Dovescape checks the mana cost of the entire card when you play a split card. Is that true?
A: No. When on the stack, a split card has only one set of characteristics: the ones associated with the side that was played. So Dovescape's triggered ability will only put 1/1 Bird tokens into play equal to the converted mana cost of the side that was played.
Q: I control a Leyline of the Void. During my opponent's turn, can he play a card for its Madness cost, when he discards it? I think he can't, because the replacement effects of the Madness ability and the Leyline will resolve in Active Player, Nonactive Player order.
A: When a card with Madness is discarded in this example, there are two replacement effects that will both try to remove this card from the game: the Madness replacement effect and the one generated by Leyline of the Void. The owner of this card can choose which to apply; replacement effects are not applied in APNAP order. So your opponent can choose to discard the Madness card and play it via its Madness cost regardless of whose turn it is and the fact that Leyline of the Void is in play.
Q: When I play Flame Fusillade, any creatures that came into play during the same turn still follow the summing sickness rule correct?
A: Correct. You will not be able to tap them to activate the ability that has been granted to them by Flame Fusillade.
Q: If I play Plagiarize, and then play Trade Secrets, do I essentially get to draw as many cards as I want, or does the opponent still get to decide if more cards are drawn, even though he isn't actually drawing them? How exactly does this work?
A: You'll most likely only draw two to six cards. Plagiarize may cause you to draw instead of your opponent, but that does not mean that you can choose to repeat the process; your opponent is the only one who can make this decision.
Q: If Root Maze is in play and I play Temple Garden, what happens if I pay the 2 life?
A: The Ravnica dual will still come into play tapped. Paying two life does not mean that it automatically comes into play untapped. The ability is worded so that if you don't pay two life it will come into play tapped. If you do pay two life then it will come into play 'normally.' However, due to the Root Maze, this means that it will come into play tapped even if you pay two life.
