The second pick of this draft was pretty interesting. I still probably would have taken Sulfurous Blast if I hadn't taken Jaya, because it's the best card there, but getting cut out of Blue in Planar Chaos isn't a big deal since after Shaper Parasite, none of the commons are very exciting. The guy in front of me almost certainly took Disintegrate or Stormbind, because I saw very few Red or Green cards through the rest of pack one. Planar Chaos was the standard three or four really good cards, and a bunch of mediocre playables. Future Sight brought my deck together with the two Ichor Slicks and Grave Scrabblers (four outlets is alright, but I prefer to have more). I ended up a little short on playables, but what I had was quite solid.

Round 1 I played against a good Blue/Green deck. In the first game I Premature Burialed, Enslaved, and Big Game Huntered a Spectral Force, but somehow he still had more fatties, and I died to his two Kavu Primarchs with the Sulfurous Blast from my opening hand still in my hand. Game 2 I drew lots of land, but that was okay because I used them and four madness spells to cast Demonic Collusion five times. I cast Dark Withering, Big Game Hunter, Grave Scrabbler, and Big Game Hunter again through the Collusion... and still lost, somehow. He had Sprout Swarm, but it wasn't very relevant. His Penumbra Spider was annoying, but I stopped it with Mass of Ghouls. It looked like I was going to stabilize, then he drew Timbermare and Ovinize for the next turn when I tried to block it.

It felt like I should have won these games, considering all the powerful things I did, but looking at the replays I can't see anything I could have done differently. He just had an endless stream of giant men, and was always one step ahead.
