Q: If Glimmervoid is in play with no artifacts, and I activate Blinkmouth Nexus, does the Glimmervoid die at end of turn? I know End of Turn Effects are all resolved at the same time that's why I am unsure.
A: They're actually not the same. Glimmervoid has an end-of-turn triggered ability (during the End Step), but Blinkmoth Nexus' ability doesn't wear off"until end of turn" (during the Cleanup Step). When Glimmervoid's trigger resolves, you'll have an artifact in play, so you won't have to sacrifice Glimmervoid.
Q: My brother, has True Believer in play and I play Breaking Point. He's at 6 life, so of course he would decide to let his creatures die instead of taking the 6 damage, costing him the game. Does True Believer keep him from taking damage from Breaking Point?
A: Breaking Point isn't targeted, so True Believer won't keep a player from being damaged by it. During the resolution of Breaking Point each player in turn (starting with the active player) decides if he wants to take the damage. If one or more players accept the damage, the creatures aren't damaged. If all players decline, then the creatures are all destroyed.
Q: If I play Gaea's Blessing targeting 3 cards in my graveyard, and in response my opponent uses Tormod's Crypt to remove my entire grave yard, do I still draw the card?
A: Yes, you still draw the card because Gaea's Blessing targets the cards in the graveyard AND the player. When the Blessing goes to resolve, one of its targets is still legal (the player), so it's not countered. You'll follow its instructions as well as you are able.
Q: I have a face down Voidmage Prodigy equipped with Skullclamp. My opponent plays a spell and I receive priority. Since Morph is a static ability that doesn't use the stack, can I flip my dude face up, and while he is a 3/0, since no one has receive priority since me, sacrifice him to counter the spell, thus drawing myself two cards and countering the spell?
A: No. Even though turning a Morph creature face up doesn't use the stack, you still check State-Based effects just before you get priority again. The game sees the Voidmage with 0 toughness, and it's put into the graveyard before you can activate its ability. You will still get to draw the two cards.
Q: If I have a bunch of clerics in play including Rotlung Reanimator, and my opponent has Pestilence. What will happen if I play Akroma's Vengeance? Does the Pestilence leave play because there are no creatures in play before my 2/2 zombie tokens come into play?
A: No, Pestilence leaves play because Akroma's Vengeance destroys enchantments as well. If, however, it's Wrath of God instead, the Pestilence will stay in play. You sacrifice it at end of turn, not immediately upon there being no creatures in play. By EOT, the Zombie tokens are in play.
Q: Can you use Leonin Bola and then equip another creature with it and repeat the process or is the Bola tapped when it's unattached?
A: The Bola itself doesn't tap. It grants an ability to the equipped creature, and tapping the creature is part of the activation cost of that ability. When you unattach it, it's still untapped, so you can put it on another creature and repeat the process.
Q: I play Mind Sludge, and my opponent plays Grim Reminder in response. He searches for Mind Sludge and finds it. Do I lose 6 life? I just don't understand exactly what"played" in the text of Grim Reminder. Does it mean"gone to the stack" or"resolved"?
A:"Played" means"gone on the stack." A spell is considered played when you've successfully completed all steps of announcement (rule 409.1). You'll lose 6 life to the Grim Reminder, because when it resolves, you've already played Mind Sludge.
Q: I was wondering about Sundering Titan. If there isn't one of every basic land type in play, do you destroy only the ones present?
A: Yes. You choose one land of each available basic land type and destroy the ones you've chosen. If it's not around to be chosen, then it can't be destroyed.
Q: My opponent controls a Proteus Staff and an activated Stalking Stones. When I take control of their turn with Mindslaver, can I choose not to find a creature even if there is one present?
A: No. Proteus Staff doesn't have a"seach," it instructs you to"reveal" cards until you hit a creature card. You have to follow the instructs as written on the card.
Q: If I have Chalice of the Void in play with 2 counters on it, and I play Shrapnel Blast sacrificing the Chalice of the Void, will the Shrapnel Blast resolve or be countered by the Chalice?
A: Shrapnel Blast will resolve. The Shrapnel Blast player can sacrifice his Chalice to pay for Blast without fear of it being countered because the Chalice only triggers upon complete announcement of the spell in question. The spell becomes played when all steps of announcement, ending with paying all costs, have been completed (rule 409.1i). By the time the Chalice would trigger, it's no longer in play, so there's nothing to trigger.
