It's hard to argue with the Power 9 resumes of these two players, as they are arguably the two most successful players in the brief history of the Power 9 tournament series.
Eric Miller lost in the finals in the first Richmond Power 9. Jay Coffman finished at 5-2 in the first Power 9, and then lost in the finals in the second Power 9 - after defeating Miller in the Top 8 to get there. Therefore, it was no real surprise when these two players blew through some tough competition in this Top 8 to make the finals once again, where one of them is guaranteed to go home with his first Power 9 title and a payout of over $1,000.
 Game 1:
Power littered the table in the first couple of turns, with Coffman's first-turn Trinisphere turning each one into an inferior Darksteel Ingot. Miller's Tinker for Karn, Silver Golem proved to be the dog's bollocks (for you non-Izzard fans, that's good), with Miller's Golem sending Coffman's Moxen to the graveyard before beating down. Juggernaut leapt into the fray as well, ending the game in two swift swings and putting Miller in the driver's seat for his first SCG title.
Miller 1 - Coffman 0
Game 2:
Miller began game 2 in much the same way he ended game 1 - with beatings. Juggernaut hit the board in a hurry, which would normally be a worry since Coffman had Goblin Welder - since Hanna's Custody allowed Juggernaut to stick his tongue out at the Welder on the way to Coffman's face.
Coffman cast a second useless Welder, while Miller kept his foot on the gas, playing a second Mishra's Workshop and then hard-casting a Platinum Angel. A Welder took one for the team on Miller's next attack, but the Angel got through. Fortunately, Coffman found an answer to Hanna's Custody with Seal of Cleansing. Miller's previously-played Crucible of Worlds recycled a Wasteland to keep Coffman landless - but not before he got rid of the Custody and sent the Angel farming with Swords to Plowshares.
Miller's next Juggernaut swing dropped Coffman to eleven, but suddenly Coffman's Stax deck looked as if it might stabilize. Coffman found a Workshop and spat out Karn, Silver Golem - a permanent blocker for Juggy that could be recurred via the active Welder and two Moxen in play. A Memory Jar on the next turn set Coffman up for a big recovery... but Miller Vampiric Tutored for Hurkyl's Recall at the end of Coffman's turn.
The first Hurkyl's returned Coffman's entire board to his hand, letting Juggernaut through to drop Coffman to six, and a second Hurkyl's plucked off the top again reset Coffman's board, dropping him to one. Jay drew his next card and thought for a moment before replaying his Mox Jet for the third time. He Vampiric Tutored himself to death, giving Eric Miller his first SCG Power 9 title!
Miller 2 - Coffman 0
